He has degrees from the University of Iowa and Florida International;
Alan has a keen interest in all aspects of Fleet and Fleet Management, with his first years as a mechanical engineer designing heavy commercial vehicle hubs, disc and drum brakes at Toowoomba Foundry, which was at the time Australia’s largest truck axle end supplier. He found the benefits of using good data and applied engineering during several years with Telstra Fleet’s nearly 20,000 vehicles helping to get their designs and processes right for safety, cost and utility.
8 years at Brisbane City Council, as Operations Manager and then Fleet Manger gave him the challenge of managing a truly diverse Public Sector Fleet, and fostered his belief that sharing knowledge and experiences is a key to developing better Asset Management outcomes. After getting a Masters of Business Administration, he moved back to Private Enterprise with Cleanaway as Fleet and Equipment manager overseeing more than 400 assets that provide Commercial solid waste collection and landfill services from 22 Queensland depots, and also service 9 different Municipal Council waste collection contracts.
He is now in the Commercial Vehicle team at Eclipx, the publicaly listed parent company of two leading Fleet Management Organisations – Fleet Partners and Fleet Plus who combined have over 100,000 units. He is available to assist with your Fleets Commercial Vehicle needs.

Duncan is a road safety innovator who is responsible for overseeing strategy and commercial development activities. He is a regular ‘thought leadership’ contributor the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) and, at times, consults to the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB).
Duncan has over a decade’s experience in the cognitive neuroscience software sector, with a focus on its application to road safety.
Prior to being in this sector, Duncan’s experience covered business development / client liaison activities in international commodity derivative markets; the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Paul is the National Manager for Membership and Workforce Development for Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA); a national industry body that represents the manufacturers and suppliers of heavy vehicles and their components.
Paul has worked with HVIA for over twelve years and has led its workforce development program over that period. With an education background Paul has a thorough understanding of the vocational education and training system and the qualifications related to the heavy vehicle industry.
Paul sits on the national Industry Reference Committee (IRC) for heavy vehicle. IRCs develop and review training packages to ensure the national training system provides the qualifications, knowledge and skill sets that industry needs.

Peter is recognised as an industry leader with 17 years of fleet management experience, recently returning to local government fleet management following four years working in the not-for-profit sector where he achieved the prestigious AfMA 2017 Fleet Manager of the Year Award.
Never shy to take on new and interesting challenges, Peter’s return to a now amalgamated council has enabled him to be innovative and use his evidence based, pragmatic approach to improve business operations in a challenging environment whilst maintaining typical business as usual demands.
Peter is the newest member of the IPWEA Fleet Council and is Chair of the Newcastle (NSW) branch.

Rob is Manager IPWEA FLEET with primary responsibility for the development and delivery of training and resources to support the IPWEA FLEET Community.
Rob has over 30 years experience in Fleet Management, Asset Management and Procurement and continues to work as a consultant to the Fleet Management industry.
Rob holds qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA in Technology Management and is a qualified VET Trainer and Assessor.
Scott is a senior Mechatronic Engineer with extensive experience in the manufacturing, agricultural, waste management and construction industries. During his career, he has developed a number of industry leading technologies for pedestrian detection, worker safety and mobile asset monitoring solutions for use in the mobile industry.
His background in cutting edge vision technologies and smart control systems has enabled him to assist companies in developing intelligent area monitoring solutions aimed at creating safer workplaces for employees and members of the public. He also has a number of years experience working with J1939 and CANBUS communications, which has enabled him to assist many businesses in retrieving useful information from vehicles to maximise operational efficiency, the corner stone of any fleet based business.

Tom joined ERA in 2009 from senior roles in management and operations with global organisations. Tom has extensive experience in managing organisations in Australia, Europe and Asia spending more than 2 years as Managing Director in the UK.
With strong operational skills and extensive experience in developing and managing process, Tom has strong understanding of the needs in identifying and successfully implementing cost reduction initiatives that drive to the bottom line. With more than 20 years practical experience in leading operations management, sales and marketing, Tom has enjoyed a variety of challenges throughout his career.

Logan City Council
Thomas has worked in Australian Local Government Fleet for 10 years.
Previous to this he spent 13 years within private sector, managing fleet and logistics operations throughout the UK for Rail; Gas; Communications and Renewable Energy sectors.
Thomas spent much of 2017 coordinating the restoration and replacement of workshops and fleet for a NSW Government, lost and damaged during the cyclone Debbie floods; in recognition of his efforts in the coordination of procurement processes during disaster recover, he was awarded Highly Commended in the NSW Local Government Procurement Professional of the year.
In his current role as Manager Plant Fleet Services at Logan City Council, Thomas and his fleet team have embarked on the journey of helping to manoeuvre the city towards its vision of being an ‘Innovative, City of The Future’; identifying innovation and leadership development opportunities to ensure the Fleet branch is a significant contributor to an already high achieving organisation.
City of Gold Coast
Dean Gutteridge is a trade qualified mechanic with tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering and business management. Since 2004, Dean has held the role of Manager Fleet for the City of Gold Coast, having previously been Director of Engineering Services for Narrabri Shire Council (NSW), and Mechanical Engineer Mobile Plant for Gosford City Council. His current responsibilities include providing cost competitive and effective vehicle, plant and equipment resources to the entire organisation (6,500 vehicles, plant and equipment with a replacement value of approximately $120 million). Dean leads a multi-disciplinary team of over 200 staff and labour hire resources, and numerous contractors and sub-contractors with an operational expenditure of approximately $37 million.
Head of Technical and Safety Policy
Steve has worked for RACQ in various technical and management roles for 30 years and has around 40 years’ automotive-related experience. His roles have included managing fleet operations and the delivery of vehicle inspections and technical advice, through to developing technical and road safety policy.
His present responsibilities include policy development, promoting road safety through media and advocacy and the delivery of RACQ’s motoring information. Steve also represents RACQ on a broad range of road safety and general motoring matters.
Redland City Council
Fleet Manager at Redland City Council for the past 11 years – Jon is responsible for the management of 1350 assets. The role includes an $4million annual replacement program and a $6million annual cost recovery process.
In 2011, Redland City Council won the Australasian Fleet Management Association’s Fleet Saftey Award for safety mitigation initiatives across Council’s fleet of 340 vehicles.
Jon has recently introduced a GPS and telematics systems and is striving to rationalise and more effectively provide service provision through efficient and effective fleet utilisation. In addition to this a current study into car sharing, alternate transport options and other emerging fleet technologies is being undertaken aiming to free up or efficiently divert capital funding to support the future transportation needs.
Jon is championing a changing role for Fleet Management, with the service evolving from the provision and management of conventional vehicles to the introduction of emerging technologies – currently commencing the introduction of full EV’s to the Fleet.
Jon is passionate about progression and looks forward to fleet conferences and the opportunities to network and share ideas and learnings with other fleet professionals .In his spare time Jon is a keen singer, loves to support his sons sporting interests in cricket and basketball. Jon is a self-professed foodie and is looking forward to sharing the load of 200 hours of learner driving ahead of him and his wife with their twin boys who turn 16 this year.

One of Ireland’s finest exports, Gerry Gannon has been a journalist, broadcaster, MC and media trainer in Australia for the last 30 years and is now one of the best known speakers and facilitators in Australia.
After a decade with ABC radio in Western Australia, Gerry left to pursue a career that would bring him closer to audiences and allow him to explore parts of the world he couldn’t do from the inside of a radio studio. He established Indonesia’s first English language radio station in Bali, served on the council, and as President, of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and on the board of the Tourism Council of WA.
Gerry is committed to community and non-profit organisations and has also been a board member of Access 31 Television, Kids Help Line and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
A specialist conference MC, facilitator and media expert, Gerry is renowned for his wit, passion, easy-going nature and commitment to those he works with.
